ABOUT
Moorhead & Moorhead is a New York-based architecture and industrial design studio, formed in 2000 by brothers Granger and Robert Moorhead. Driven by the inventive aspects of design, our work explores issues of function and materiality at scales ranging from furniture to architecture.

Collaboration is inherent in the M&M design process. At the core of the work is the pairing of our distinct backgrounds in architecture and industrial design. Each project is a unique synthesis of design, detailing and fabrication. In addition to our ongoing internal collaboration, M&M teams up with a diverse group of outside designers, fabricators and consultants on a project by project basis.

Experimentation is fundamental to our work. The M&M studio includes a prototyping shop that allows us to push materials to their limits. Full-scale in-house explorations facilitate inventive design solutions for a wide range of clients.

Our work has been widely recognized. It has traveled the US, Europe and Asia as part of group exhibitions, and is included in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art, New York. It has been published extensively in international design magazines, and received ID Annual Design Review Awards in both the Furniture and Environments categories. In 2008 we were named Emerging Voices by the Architectural League of New York.

Granger Moorhead received his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Architecture from Yale University. Prior to forming Moorhead & Moorhead, Granger worked in the architectural offices of Steven Harris Architects and Selldorf Architects. He is a licensed architect in the state of New York.

Robert Moorhead received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and his Bachelor of Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design. Prior to forming Moorhead & Moorhead, Robert worked in the custom metal fabrication shop Product & Design.
